System Quirk: Tracker

A personalised information gathering application.
It can be used for tasks such as text/terminology searching through the WWW.

The full version of this application can be used to look for a number of terms and their equivalents on a number of user specified sites - hence the quality of the data being returned is known in advance.
Once a site (or page) is specified, Tracker will visit all pages that have hyperlinks throughout that site ONLY. A 'corpus' can be created automatically of the texts found that match the searches.

The results of these searches can be saved to HTML with references to the origin of the data.

A demonstration version of this system for Windows 95/NT4.0 is available upon request, limited to use on a single site with a single term.

FAQ type instructions for use can be found here

Known problems

Tracker will not work behind a firewall or proxy server at present.

Sites need to be fully qualified - a '/' is required for the root of a site e.g. http://www.mysite.com/ not http://www.mysite.com
