Summ-it Summarisation Applet Version 1.1
System Requirements
This program requires Java to be enabled within your Browser.
Background
The Java applet contained in this page makes use of lexical cohesion to produce summaries.
Instructions
To produce summaries of higher quality,
tokens (single words) can be removed from the bonding by pasting them into the Remove text area on the right of the applet.
It is recommended that the 'closed class words', e.g. words in English such as
are placed here, line separated.
When text is pasted into the Text area on the right of the applet, and
the Summarise Text button is pressed, a summary will be produced.
At present, this summary will be in the ratio 10:10:10 where each number
represents the percentage of the text (number of sentences) for topic opening:central:topic closing
sentences.
The threshold for creating a bond between sentences is set to 3.
Changing these values will also affect the quality of the summary produced.
