The project has been sponsored by the EC ESPRIT Programme as a Special Action for the former East German Federal States. The intention here is to transfer the technology developed in past and current ESPRIT projects of Surrey to the East German Federal States.
The project's acronym, LEXICIM, stands for Lexica for Computer Integrated Manufacturing systems and products.
