The material in these pages is primarily from Spring 2007. They will be revised before the start of the module in Spring 2008.
The compulsory exercises for the portfolio are Weeks 3 and 9. The deadline is 12 May 10.30am.
The poster session will be held in 39BB02, rather than the regular lecture room, on Thursday 1 May (Week 12). There will be two sessions, morning and afternoon. The following is a preliminary schedule for the poster presentations.
I need to know of anyone who cannot make the morning session ASAP. This is true even if the preliminary schedule has you placed in the afternoon. If there are unforeseen collisions, groups will be swapped.
You are expected to attend all of the posters in the session, where you present, and I will subtract marks if you do not.
Someone asked for test images for chi2 analysis. You may use the following: Short message, Medium message, No message. Text messages have been embedded; I am not sure about the exact fraction of capacity.
There seems to be a bug in this exercise.
You will probably find that you are unable to save
the image with jpeg_save.
The Huffmann tables are adapted to the image, and
your modified image may require new Huffmann table.
The best I can come up with is to do the exercise for Week 7,
and use the those functions to decompress your image for
viewing, rather than saving it.
If you want to keep a record of the Jpeg data, you can
use save to make a copy of the Matlab
workspace.
Sorry about the inconvenience. The few tests I made were too limited to uncover the problem.
